The idea of vaping is to offer an alternative to traditional cigarette smoking. People below the legal age to purchase cigarettes viewed it as a great option. Moreover, vaping is less harmful than smoking cigarettes. However, the varying types of e-cigarettes and e-liquids make it difficult to draw a line between what’s safe and not.
For this reason, US Federal Law applied an age restriction on vaping, effective from August 2016. This restriction is also applicable to e-liquids that didn’t contain any traces of nicotine whatsoever because modifiers are a tobacco product. The FDA is responsible for monitoring all types of products that produce smoke, even simple components and parts of vaping sticks.
According to the Federal Law, you have to be at least 18 years of age to purchase vaping products anywhere in the US. However, the laws aren’t as strict when seen at a micro level. While it isn’t a criminal act to be caught vaping, selling vaping products to minors is. That’s why you should be concerned as to what age you need to be to purchase vaping items.
Many of the anti-vaping laws are the result of the efforts of Tobacco21, which the Preventing Tobacco Addiction Organization endorses. Rob Crane, who is strictly against low-risk vaping products as well, runs the operation. While the basic age limit across all the states is 18 years, some have capped it at 19, while others have stated it to be 21.
