Vaping: More Than Just a One-Trick Pony

It’s easy to figure out that a water tank pressurized to 10 psi is going to provide more water flow from that tank’s faucet, than a tank with 5psi. The same applies to voltage. Next, there’s electric current, or flow of electricity, which is measured in amps. Again, using water as an analogy, amperage would be similar to the measurement of how much water flowed per second or minute. You should also know about resistance. If you’ve ever seen a coil described as “2.0 ohms” or “1.5 ohms,” you might be familiar with resistance. It’s a measurement of the coil’s tendency to resist the current (amperage.) Electrical resistance is measured in ohms.

Putting It All Together

With a basic working knowledge of voltage, amperage, and resistance, you’ll have what it takes to understand how to get the most out of your VV battery. Generally, when you increase the voltage of your e-cig battery, you’ll get a warmer vape and more vapor production. The opposite is true when you decrease the voltage. Of course, you’ll find that a particular voltage setting suits you best for any given e-cig setup. Coils with a lower resistance require less voltage to power them, because they allow the current to more easily pass through it. For higher resistance coils, more voltage is required to produce the same amount of heat.
